Materials

Each participant will receive a CD containing the course content consisting of textual, visual, and audio supporting materials, links to relevant websites, assignments in several supplemental texts, and lectures by faculty. There will be videos recommended and/or included with the CD.

Schedule & Format

The courses will start the second Sunday in October and end thirty one weeks later in mid-May (including a four week break from mid-December to mid-January).

The twenty seven active weeks are divided into nine three-week modules. The first two weeks of each module will be spent reading, listening to, and viewing the material. During the third week each participant is encouraged to write and post a short reflection as well as respond to others' postings on TeachingAssistant.com, a website especially designed to facilitate the online sharing of our responses to the course material..

There are two strands to each course: the conceptual material and what we will refer to as Bioregional Spirituality, the establishment of a sacred relationship with Earth, especially where you live. The first strand is supported by textual and web resources as well as listening/viewing videos and audio files. The second strand is supported by poetry, music, and suggested activities. Our online discussion will include responses to both of the two strands.

Prior to the start of the course we will provide some online discussion topics in the Student Center to familiarize new participants with the procedures involved in the courses.

The Student Center

Upon registration each participant will be enrolled in the Student Center. On the second Sunday in October the participant will be enrolled also in its course of choice. The Student Center has two purposes:

To provide a place where each participant can learn and become comfortable with the TeachingAssistant.com functionality.

To provide a common discussion environment for participants in any course.

Time Commitment

You could put in as little as one or two hours per week depending on your other commitments. Three hours a week would be a moderate pace.

Course Costs & Registration

The cost of each course is $500. There is a reduced per person rate for groups. Email LarryEdwards3159@yahoo.com to register or if you have questions.

Taking the Courses for Graduate Credit

Either of the courses can be taken for three graduate credits as a special student at St. Thomas University in Miami, FL. Future courses may be associated with residential programs at Genesis Farm and graduate credit toward a certificate in Ecology and the Human Spirit from St. Thomas University in Miami, FL.
